Procrastinate-a

Shoulda.
Coulda.
Woulda.
But I didn't.
...

Now I gotta.

Snowflakes

The snowflakes were falling like white feathers from a pillow fight. I watched them softly make their way to the ground, landing on the earth, like quiet kisses in the night.

Cobwebs

Like cobwebs in the corners of my mind
lie memories of things that I would rather forget
and just as with the sweep of a hand I brush them aside.
Yet the spider's of regret spin their webs and wait for me to glance at them.

I am and will be forever brushing them aside.

Romans 12:2

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Summer

The sound of my flip flops.
The way my long cotton skirt shifts in the breeze.
The sound of ice tea tinkling in my glass as it sweats in my hand.
I know it's summer and it feels good to be warm again.

A Thousand Bee Stings

You've known a thousand bee stings to the heart.
Is what it felt like.

Just when you thought you can't cry any more
the tears are still falling to the floor.
And there is nothing I can do.
Save pray my friend, for you.

This season of the killer bees
will not destroy a heart at peace.
Broken though I know it is,
Peace be still, your heart to ease.

And with the season's thankful end
The Lord will settle your heart again.

On the balcony in my bare feet after the rain and before the sun

On still evenings when no one seems to be alive,
I go out on the balcony.
There is no other way to catch my breath.
Yet I have not been running.
Or climbing stairs.
Or falling in love.
I just can't catch my breath.
Out on the balcony this evening in my barefeet and faded jeans, I visited the ending of the rain.
And there I caught my breath again.
And breathed out the sadness.
And breathed out the cobwebs in my throat.
And then my roommate came home.

And I never said a thing about it, because I never do.

Hermit Girl

I am the Hermit Girl!
I have no time for you.
I go to work, I go to school
that's all there is to do.

I am the Hermit Girl.
I'm living in my prime.
I work, I study.
I study, I work.
No time for friends, I'm such a jerk.

That's what they think.
I know it's true.
til 2013 I'm turning blue.

I am the Hermit Girl!
I have a Hermit Head.
I can't be bothered to colored it
I'm going gray instead!

So much for dating.
So much for cool.
I am the Hermit Girl!

Hermit Boy are you out there too?

God of All Things

I was thinking this morning about the Lord and wondering just how much he wants to be a part of everything we do. Everything Lord? Really? That's when this little poem came to me:

God of big things.
God of small things.
God of short things.
God of tall things.

God over the good things.
God over the bad.
God over the happy.
God over the sad.

God in the quite.
God in the loud.
God in the meek,
but not in the proud.

God in my doing.
God in my rest.
God in my worst.
God in my best.

God over the earth.
God over the sea.
God over you
and God over me.

God wants to be part of everything we do. No matter how big no matter how small, God wants to always be part of it all.

Sunsets and Shadows

A quiet evening dawns as the sun lays itself to sleep.

"Goodnight, Good World." The sun doth say.
"Tomorrow will be another day.
But it is time to leave you now,
and with this night I take my bow.
For in my place a new moon shines.
A substitute for this light of mine.

Goodnight, Good World. Goodnight."

Just a Touch

Just a touch of Love
Just a touch of Grace
Just a touch of Mercy
From the Goodness of your face.

Just a touch of Kindness
Just a touch from You
That is all this little one
is asking You to do.

In my touch of Sadness
In my touch of Ache
That is all I'm asking Lord
that you would not forsake.

Just a touch from You Lord
Just a touch from You
Then this little one will...
find a heart renewed.

Two Familiar Friends

I have an old friend and I have a new friend,
Heartbreak and Heartache.
I have officially known them both,
but now I know them well.

A budding crocus is best left alone,
until it is able to stand on it's own.

The Desert

In the Desert you have brought me.
In the desert I have come.
As I leave the world behind me,
in the desert I will run.

The soul that thirsts for you Lord,
what thirst you do here quench.
Who would have thought the desert,
is the place of such content.

You have brought me here with nothing.
You have brought me here by grace.
You have brought me here to see and know,
the love that's in Your face.

Should I live here in the desert.
Should I always walk alone.
I rejoice here in your comfort
and the Love that's from Your throne.

The End of All You Know

When you come to the end of all you know
and everything else around you has disappeared
and you are left holding the remains of only sand in your hands, let it go.

When you come to the end of all you know
and you have lost sight of all direction,
then it's time to close your eyes.
You will have no use for them anymore.

When you come to the end of all you know
and wonder if this is where you will be left to dwell....
then build an alter to the Lord and get on it.

When you come to the end of all you know
and it seems as though Loniless has become your only companion,
embrace it. You will understand later.

When you come to the end of all you know
and there are no more words left to pray,
then wait...

Wait for the Lord.
Hope. Hope in the Lord.
Think. Think on the Lord.
Expect. Expect the Lord.
Desire. Desire the Lord.

Because it will not always be winter in your soul
and the Lord will move again,
but only if you are willing to come to the end of all you know.

Little Words

Obama.
Oh Momma!
Find Osama?
And end the drama.
While riding a llama, in your pajamas.

What's in a name?

Through vain attempts I try to find
more meaning to this name of mine.
Some names mean courage, or flower or pearl
But alas, all my name means is Girl.

Miss Bossy Sauce

Welcome little Miss Bossy Sauce.
Watch out cause here she comes!

She'll boss you when it comes to meals
and boss you as you clean.
She loves to tell you what to do,
Miss Bossy Sauce is mean!

She'll boss you all around the house
and up and down the stairs.
She'll even boss you out in public
and yell till people stare.

But I'm pretty sure I can forgive her,
as the facts I know are true.
Miss Bossy Sauce is only bossy
because she's only two!

Princess Abooty of Zanzibar

Princess Abooty of Zanzibar
Is the craziest princess I’ve met so far.
She lives in a tree house, on top of the trees.
On the Island of Kokalakachichi.
Whenever I visit we drink Zanzibar tea
And swing from the tree vines, just like a trapeze.
We drink out of coconuts and eat with our hands
And at night we do the Kokalaki Dance.
Sometimes we hop in her great big canoe
And sail around the island one time or two.
All of her guards are big, fat and tan.
They make me feel safe in the Zanzibar Clan.
But now it’s time to leave this land.
I’ll return here tomorrow as soon as I can.
The reason why I can get back here so fast,
Is ‘cause she’s in my head as I daydream in class.
Farewell Princess!
Till we meet again.
When I’m sitting in study hall
And doodling with my pen.

Hermit the Crab

Hermit the Crab was a shy little thing and liked to be left alone. He would swirl in his shell which he liked very well, as this was his fine little home.

In tide pools he'd wade in the sun or the shade, for daily this was his thing. He'd search for his food in a shy little mood while the roaring waters would sing.

But one day Hermit ventured out on the beach in the late, late afternoon sun and a boy and his dog who were out for a jog stepped on Hermit and clobbered him one.

Poor little Hermit, his home was now crushed and he cried and he cried in the sand. Till someone picked him up and threw him back in by the twist of a wrist of a hand.

Then down in the shallows of the sea bed he found a seashell was floating alone. So Hermit crawled in and found once again a seashell that he could call home.

Seasons

Shake, shake, shake the windy leaves
and watch them topple from the trees.

And feel the Indian Summer sun
and rest now that the harvest's done.

Rest inside the cold to come
and wait till Springtime comes undone.

And in the Summer sunshine sing,
of all the beauty seasons bring.
