Amelia Mixed the Mustard

I love A.E. Housman's poetry. I read this poem as a child and it has stuck with me all through my life...

Amelia mixed the mustard,
She mixed it good and thick;
She put it in the custard
And made her Mother sick,
And showing satisfaction
By many a loud huzza
'Observe' said she 'the action
Of mustard on Mamma.'

Housman is brilliant! I've been trying hard to find his humourous poems online but there are only 2 or 3 out there. Do you have any of his other poems like this?

I don't unfortunatly. My other favorite of his is To An Athlete Dying Young, but all of his stuff is good.

I agree, all of his work is very good. I can't stand the fact that there are poems of his out there that I haven't read. Especially his dark humour. Thanks anyway.
