Freaking Out

Well are you? Why I ask this is because everyone else on the tellie seems to be and many business dudes that I talk to are all in a panic. I've been thinking this through the past few days, with the Stock Market all erratic and such. Here's my thought...

If things get really bad and the economy comes crashing down around us, will God be surprised? No.
If you or I sit around and wring our hands and wail "What will we do, what will we do?"
Will that work? Will it change the situation? No.
Do any of us *really* have any control over the economy? No.
Do any of us *really* have any control over anything in our lives? No.
If and when disaster strikes, does that mean that God is not in control? No.
If and when disaster strikes of any kind, earthquake, famine, war, the Stock Market--God is still in control. He is our all Sovereign all Omnipotent God and nothing that is about to happen will be any surprise to Him.

Now I don't know about you, but that fact is an extremely comforting promise to me in times of such uncertainty.

So all I have to say is... stop freaking out and seek the Lord while He may be found :)

Thanks for posting this. I needed this reminder right now. A good friend of mine is going through a really tragic family situation. Right now the burdens and sorrow for her and her family are unbearable. We have to make a conscious effort to keep in mind that God is in control- even when terrible things happen and we just don't understand. Thank you, Colleen. Keep up the good posts!

Wow Holly. I'm sorry to hear that about your friend, truly. What else is there to cling to, save the breath of God in our sorrows. May His Shalom cover that family and your friend.
